Mitchell Rabin, M.A., LAC
Welcome to the website for Mitchell Rabin, Creative Consulting
When the captain in the 1967 classic film Cool Hand Luke with George Kennedy and Paul Newman, said “What we have here is a failure to communicate….” everyone knew what he meant. It became an idiom. People knew that, even in much less difficult circumstances than in the film, in their own business and family relationships, they was a failure to communicate!
Since 1980, my counseling, coaching and consulting work with clients, business and personal, is to address this failure and to help people with the process of recognition of behavior, of attitude, of intent and to work with it toward cultivating awareness about these. At times, this leads to a wish to apologize, for others, to forgive and for all to move on to life’s next chapters. There’s a process to release and let go that which no longer serves. Everyone falls. Everyone deeply wants to be better. Kiss, make up, move on.
Learning communication skills, from simple to complex, is a life-raft that not only keeps up afloat, but can help us jettison our lives forward. In business, at home, on stage, on the court, communication, verbal and non-verbal is utterly key to success. Communication is also the key to the most successful of negotiations.
Empowering others around communication, with others, with themselves and next working with their minds to become master, is the next order of business. If you master your mind, you master your life. Relaxation, brain and heart coherence, applying ancient wisdom to future activity, allows us to listen to the past, learn and apply it to our lives today.
Creating states of mind which are more receptive and creative advances and expands our life’s possibilities. Learning to have fun if it isn’t happening naturally, is also part of my work.
A lot of communication involves understanding when things are going terribly and as best possible, why so to reach cause. But no matter, how do we show up under stress? Learning to negotiate resolution to conflict, learning to mediate, breaking through from breakdown which happens in life routinely, is a big part of the work I do.
When things are going well, I ask the question, what is our human potential and how can we make it greater? How do we further expand our creativity, our neural network and take the next step?
And when things seem bad, how did it get this way and how to effectively move through it. What tools are needed to get back onto the horse and start riding again?
Next is to empower you around everything you do, whatever brings you joy, passion, playfulness, health, wealth and love. Meaning and purpose. Expresses your values and priorities. Connection and aliveness. A life worth living., flourishing with love, compassion, humor & laughter. Make a difference in the world, better for your being here and having been here.
Whether it’s in your corporate offices, in mine or matters in the home, my work has been said to bring this kind of awareness, humility, creativity, integrity. fun, play and aliveness forward in my clients.
“A failure to communicate” becomes a success in communicating, succeeding in living.
